Zeidman Consulting Improves CodeMatch Software
and Offers It for Free
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2005--Zeidman

CodeMatch(TM) Version 3 for comparing multiple source
code files in order to detect plagiarism, copyright
infringement, intellectual property theft, and patent
infringement. CodeMatch was developed for use by lawyers,
technical experts, and expert witnesses to help pinpoint
computer source code that may have been copied from
another program.
According to Bob Zeidman, president of Zeidman Consulting,
"The new version is much faster and more accurate than
ever before. The algorithms remain the same as the ones that
have been successfully used on a number of important copyright
cases, intellectual property lawsuits, and negotiated settlements.
However, we found ways to change their implementation, allowing
CodeMatch to run twice as fast. Also, the output reports are

allowing the user to focus on suspect sections of code."
The best news may be that the full version of CodeMatch is
now available for free downloading from the Zeidman Consulting
website. It can be used to compare source code files of 1
megabyte or less at no charge. "We did this to give teachers
a tool to easily find plagiarism among students. Also, potential
customers can run CodeMatch on small jobs to see just how
effective it is," says Zeidman. For jobs over 1 megabyte,
licenses must be purchased from Zeidman Consulting.
CodeMatch runs on a personal computer using the Windows operating
system. CodeMatch uses sophisticated algorithms to compare
source code files and rank them according to similarity. A
detailed report is generated that gives specific information
about similarities in each pair of files. CodeMatch supports
these programming languages: Basic, C, C++, Delphi, Java,
MASM, Pascal, Perl, SQL, Verilog, and VHDL. New languages
can be added easily upon request.
